How long is a session?

Sessions last 50 minutes unless tailored to a specific length, for example for business team coaching.

What happens at the introductory session?

The free introductory session is an assessment which gives us the chance to see how we can work together. You may get an idea of want you want to get out of counselling/coaching and I can gather some information about you to see how best to go forward. It also gives you the opportunity for us to see if we’re a good match.

How often do I see you?

Sessions are usually on a weekly basis at the same time each week. We can adjust this to fortnightly or arrange alternative times if necessary.

How many sessions will I need?

The average is six sessions for counselling but it could take much less or a bit longer. The aim is for you to manage future difficulties yourself. However, I’m available as long as necessary and we’ll work collaboratively towards a final session.

Where can I get sessions?

You can meet me in person at The W Academy in Pollok Country Park, Glasgow or the Village in East Kilbride. Or we can have a session online (on Zoom) or by phone.

How much does it cost?

You have a FREE initial 30 minute consultation by phone, online or in person. Counselling sessions cost £50.00 per session Coaching costs £75.00 per session Business counselling/coaching depends on the number of people/work required.

How do I pay?

Please pay in advance of each session by bank transfer.

What if I don’t attend or cancel sessions?

If you miss a session without notification, or cancel sessions with less than 48 hours notice, you will be charged for the full fee unless there is a compelling reason to waive the fee such as sudden illness.

What if you cancel a session?

Any session missed due to my absence will not be chargeable.

What if I’m running late for a session?

Please call or text to let me know. Unfortunately, if you arrive late, sessions cannot be extended beyond the agreed finish time.

When are you available?

I have day, evening and weekend appointments. Please contact me to arrange a suitable time.

What about confidentiality?

All sessions are subject to professional confidentiality adhering to COSCA and BACP ethical practice. I will not pass on any information about my clients unless you ask me to do so or if there a possibility of harm to yourself or others. I may discuss some clients’ issues with supervisors (as ethically required) but these follow the same strict confidential guidelines and no names or details are given. You can find our full privacy policy here.

Will you be available in a crisis situation?

Unfortunately, I cannot offer crisis/emergency services, but please take a look at the emergency contacts here.

Do you give advice?

Neither a coach nor a counsellor will tell you what to do but is skilled in helping you discover how to go forward and improve your personal wellbeing, life and work.
